“Detectives from the Folsom Police Department organized a multi-agency operation Wednesday (12/3/25).
Officers and Agents from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, US Federal Courts Probation, Sacramento County Probation joined officers and detectives from the Folsom Police department to check on 27 Registered Sex Offenders in the area.
Our partners brought a detection dog capable of finding hidden electronics to make the searches more effective.
The teams searched eight homes under Probation or Parole terms, and found one subject out of compliance.
Thomas Anckner, 38, of Folsom was arrested for drug possession when he was found with methamphetamine and fentanyl.
In another case, Gary Smith, 74, of Placerville was arrested for a warrant for annoying or molesting a minor, 647.6(a) PC, stemming from an incident in a Folsom store in March, after a lengthy investigation and review of the case.
These routine compliance checks are part of the Police Department’s ongoing efforts to support community safety and ensure individuals subject to registration requirements are following state law. California law requires registered sex offenders to be listed on the Megan’s Law website, which is accessible to the public at meganslaw.ca.gov.
You can search by name, address, or zip code to view information about offenders in your neighborhood. We encourage residents to use this resource to stay informed about their community’s safety.”
