SFPD Offers Two Separate $175,000 Rewards in Unsolved Cold Case Homicides
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) is renewing its plea to the public for assistance in two separate, unsolved homicide cases, offering a substantial combined reward of $350,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible. Each case carries a $175,000 reward.
The department is seeking leads in the 2001 stabbing death of Kelvin Hamilton and the 2014 fatal shooting of Michael Marquez.
Crocker Amazon Park Stabbing: Kelvin Hamilton (2001)
The first case dates back over two decades. In the early morning hours of November 15th, 2001, Kelvin Hamilton was tragically stabbed at Crocker Amazon Park. Details regarding the circumstances of the attack were not immediately released, but the SFPD Homicide Cold Case team is actively pursuing new leads.
Fatal Robbery: Michael Marquez (2014)
The second appeal relates to the murder of Michael Marquez. On Sunday, November 24th, 2014, at approximately 12:30 AM, Marquez and two friends were walking South on Noe Street when they were approached by four African-American males. The group was robbed at gunpoint, and during the commission of the robbery, Marquez was shot in the stomach. The suspects immediately fled the scene in a 4-door colored vehicle. Marquez was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH), where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The SFPD is urging anyone with information related to either of these violent crimes to come forward. Anyone with knowledge, however small it may seem, is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department immediately.
