Colton Police Revisit 2008 Homicide of Ricky Soto, Seek Public Assistance in Cold Case Investigation

COLTON, CA– “On April 6th, 2008 at approximately 8:40pm, Colton Police officers responded to the area of 10th St. and N St. regarding a reported traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver of the vehicle — later identified as 22 year-old Ricky Soto — had sustained a gunshot wound while operating his vehicle.

After being shot, his vehicle collided with a parked car in front of a residence. The collision was determined to be secondary to the shooting, and the incident was classified as a homicide.
Over the years, detectives from the Colton Police Department have continued to review evidence, re-examine leads, and apply new investigative techniques in an effort to bring a resolution to this case. Investigators believe that individuals in the community may still have information that has not yet been shared with law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Colton Police Department Investigations Division Detective Sergeant S. McFarland at (909)370-5140 or smcfarland@coltonca.gov.”
