Chino Police Detain Two Suspects in Trading Card Theft, Recover Over $1,000 in Merchandise
CHINO, CA — Officers with the Chino Police Department recently responded to a reported theft at a local retail establishment following notification from the store’s Loss Prevention team. The incident involved three individuals allegedly attempting to steal high-value trading cards.
Upon the arrival of law enforcement, the three suspects reportedly observed the officers and separated, moving in different directions in an attempt to evade apprehension. Two of the individuals were detained swiftly. One suspect was taken into custody inside the business, while the second was apprehended in the adjacent parking area. The third individual reportedly fled the scene and managed to elude capture.
The Chino Police Department confirmed that over $1,000 in merchandise was recovered at the scene. Furthermore, officers located additional suspected stolen items inside a vehicle that was determined to be associated with the detained individuals. Both detained suspects, identified as residents of Pomona, were subsequently booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
The department acknowledged the rapid response and collaborative effort between its officers and the Loss Prevention personnel. Officials also indicated that in anticipation of the holiday season, patrols will be increased in local retail centers.
