Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Murder Following a Road Rage Collision

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Martin W. Davis, Jr., a 37-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested
earlier this month on suspicion of murder.
Davis was booked at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, following a road rage incident and deadly physical altercation on November 8.
California Highway Patrol responded at 7:40 p.m. to the intersection of Wilibeam and
Northbridge avenues in Castro Valley.
Evidently, a road rage incident preceded a collision, and next the two drivers got out their vehicles and fought.
CHP officers found one of the drivers, Jason C. Elola, 49, of Tracy, suffering from severe
injuries. His wife and two young daughters were with him. Elola was transported to a hospital
where he was later pronounced dead. He was the father of nine children.
Davis had left the scene, but he phoned the CHP and reported his involvement in the incident.
“CHP personnel instructed Martin to return to the scene,” a prepared statement from the CHP
said.
He returned to the scene and he has since cooperated in an ongoing investigation.
“Preliminary information indicates a physical altercation occurred between Elola and Davis,
following a road rage-related incident,” according to the CHP.
Martin was arrested on suspicion of murder, but he was subsequently released from custody,
pending further investigation.
