One Suspect Killed & Deputy Injured Following Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, CA — November 17th 2025 — One suspect is deceased and a Tulare County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Deputy sustained injuries following an incident early Monday morning involving a stolen vehicle. The event unfolded around 12 a.m. on November 17, 2025, after TCSO Deputies located a stolen car with two occupants near the top of Lewis Hill in Porterville.

When deputies attempted to make contact, the occupants drove the vehicle away in the direction of Porterville. Deputies located the vehicle a second time in the area of Wilson and Mulberry. Upon a second attempt to make contact, the driver accelerated, striking a TCSO patrol unit.

The vehicle fled the area again. Officers from the Porterville Police Department subsequently observed the vehicle near Westfield and Newcomb and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and continued to speed away. The suspect vehicle then failed to stop at the intersection of Westfield and Prospect, resulting in a collision with another Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle traveling through the intersection.

The collision caused the suspect vehicle to catch fire, and the fire extended to a nearby residence. One occupant of the suspect vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second occupant was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The Sheriff’s Deputy involved in the crash was also transported to an area hospital, having sustained moderate injuries. The Porterville Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

On Monday evening, Sheriff Boudreaux announced that the deputy injured in the crash “is now out of surgery and in stable condition”.
