Fresno Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with Fatal Stabbing on Halloween

FRESNO, CA — Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Friday night at a Carl’s Jr. near Blackstone and Griffith avenues.

According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene just after 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. There they found 44-year-old Manuel Lopez suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Lopez was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased, police said.

Officers located 43-year-old Ashton Dejean nearby, who matched the suspect’s description.

Officers obtained a description of the suspect and later detained an individual near the scene who matched the description. Police identified this individual as Ashton Dejean, 43.

Police say Dejean initially refused to comply with officers but was nonetheless arrested. He was booked into the Fresno County jail on suspicion of murder and resisting arrest.
