Auto Arson Suspect in Custody

ROSEVILLE, CA  — Oct. 23, 2025 — “The Roseville Police Department has been actively investigating a series of vehicle arsons over the past 10 days.

What initially started as a random vehicle fire on October 13, developed into a series of arsons totaling 5 vehicle fires within 10 days. The vehicle fires all occurred around the area of Bill Hughes Park within Roseville and were within walking distance of each other.

Using information supplied by our crime analysis unit, both patrol officers and detectives conducted extra enforcement activities in the targeted area.

Shortly after midnight on October 23, Roseville PD received a 911 call from a resident near Angus Drive who reported having heard a loud banging coming from their vehicle and a figure next to their car.

They noticed a flame coming from inside their vehicle as it was parked, and a window had been broken out. Our patrol officers and detectives in the area were able to establish a perimeter quickly and caught the suspect as he fled on foot.

The suspect was detained and identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile out of Roseville.

Detectives authored a search warrant for the juvenile’s residence and found evidence that connected the juvenile to the prior vehicle arsons. He was placed under arrest and booked into Placer County Juvenile Hall for Arson (451 PC).

While the suspect in this case is in-custody the investigation is still active and on-going.
