Former Landscaper Arrested for Burglary and Theft of Golf Cart in Lake of the Pines
GRASS VALLEY, CA — A man identified as a former landscaper was arrested Monday, October 20, 2025, in connection with a residential burglary and the theft of a golf cart from a Lake of the Pines residence. The suspect, George Gault, 27, of Auburn, was taken into custody by Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) Patrol Deputies following an investigation into an incident involving a former client.
The investigation began after the victim filed an online theft report with the NCSO on October 3, 2025, detailing the golf cart’s disappearance from a garage. A subsequent follow-up by an NCSO patrol deputy yielded leads that led to the discovery of an online sales advertisement for the golf cart suspected to be stolen.
Investigators determined that Gault had sold the golf cart. The deputy was then able to locate the buyer, a resident of Merced County. The buyer was contacted by the NCSO and reportedly cooperated with the investigation, which led to the recovery of the stolen golf cart with assistance from the Atwater Police Department.
Gault was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. He faces charges including Burglary, Grand Theft of a Vehicle, and Theft from an Elderly or Dependent Adult. The NCSO stated that Gault was the victim’s former landscaper.
