WINTERHAVEN, CA — On October 18, 2025, at approximately 9:55 PM, deputies assigned to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Winterhaven Sub-Station initiated an enforcement stop on a male individual operating a bicycle. The stop was conducted due to the subject riding the bicycle during hours of darkness without the legally required reflective equipment.
During the interaction, the male subject reportedly refused to provide identification to the deputies. This refusal led to the subject’s arrest on the grounds of obstructing or delaying an investigation. Following the arrest, the individual reportedly stated that his refusal to identify himself stemmed from a belief that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
A subsequent search conducted incident to the arrest of the male subject uncovered approximately 34 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. A review of the subject’s criminal history revealed prior convictions related to drug offenses.
Based on the evidence collected and the subject’s record, the individual was formally arrested and subsequently transported to the Imperial County Jail. The subject was booked on multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell, transportation of methamphetamine, and obstructing or delaying an investigation. Law enforcement officials completed the booking process following standard procedure.
