SFPD Officer-Involved Shooting on Highway 101 Near Cesar Chavez Street
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — ”On September 4, 2025, at approximately 11:19 a.m., San Francisco Police officers were in the area of northbound Hwy 101 near Cesar Chavez Street assisting San Francisco Sheriff Deputies regarding a male subject walking on the freeway. While on scene, SFPD made contact with the subject near the Caesar Chavez off-ramp. During the encounter, the subject produced an edged weapon, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. One SFPD officer was involved.
Officers on scene rendered aid, and paramedics transported the subject to a local hospital. The subject’s medical condition is not known at this time. No one else was injured in the incident.
This incident is being investigated by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office; the San Francisco Police Department Investigative Services Division (ISD); the San Francisco Police Department Internal Affairs Division (IAD); and the Department of Police Accountability (DPA).
All information is preliminary and could be subject to change. This remains an open and active investigation. As part of SFPD’s commitment to transparency and accountability, a town hall meeting regarding this officer-involved shooting will be held within ten days.
