Fresno County Authorities Arrest Suspect in Alleged Courier Scam
FRESNO, CA — Fresno County authorities have reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with a courier scam targeting a local resident.
According to a press release by the Fresno Police Department, the agency’s Financial Crimes Unit alleges that the suspects posed as law enforcement officers, contacted the victim via text message with false claims that the victim’s credit cards had been used to buy illegal items online, and demanding that the victim pay $30,000 to avoid being arrested.
Detectives ultimately identified a suspect in the case as Dehua Zou, 32.
Zou was arrested on Friday, Aug. 22, and booked into jail on suspicion of theft by false pretenses, authorities said.
