Vista Deputies and Carlsbad Police Arrest Suspect Following Carjacking and Pursuit
VISTA, CA — 08/13/2025 — “On Wednesday, August 13, at about 7:32 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of carjacking in the 600 block of Hacienda Drive after a male suspect, later identified as Kenneth Ash DOB: 6/30/1995, demanded the driver exit the vehicle. Ash drove from the location before deputies arrived on-scene and A “Be on the Lookout” was broadcasted to North County law enforcement agencies. The Carlsbad Police Department located the vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 5 at La Costa Avenue, and a traffic pursuit ensued.
Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station assisted by deploying a tire deflation device on Leucadia Boulevard and Garden View Road, which successfully deflated one or more of the vehicles tires. Ash continued driving into the City of Carlsbad where he lost control of the vehicle and collided into two vehicles, a bus stop, and a tree on El Camino Real and Faraday Avenue. Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department apprehended Ash and he was taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital where he was treated, released and later booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
