Driver Arrested in Inyo County for DUI and Speeds Over 120 MPH on Highway 395

LONE PINE, CA  — A driver was arrested on July 30 following a multi-agency effort to stop a vehicle reported for reckless driving on Highway 395. The incident began at approximately 11:05 a.m. when the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office received a request for assistance from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Bishop regarding a white Chevrolet SUV. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic as it headed north toward Lone Pine.

Deputies initiated a search along the route. A deputy located the SUV near the intersection of Highway 395 and Fort Road, where it was observed traveling at an estimated speed of over 120 miles per hour. A traffic stop was successfully conducted just north of Division Creek. The driver complied and was subsequently arrested.

Following an investigation, the driver was booked into the Inyo County Jail on several charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, possession of an open container, and speeding in excess of 100 miles per hour. The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the collaboration with the CHP and emphasized its dedication to roadway safety. Authorities have since issued a reminder to motorists to operate vehicles responsibly and in accordance with legal speed limits.
