Humboldt County Woman Arrested for Alleged Shooting at Illegal Cannabis Grow Site

KNEELAND, CA — An Arcata woman was arrested on firearm charges in connection with an alleged shooting at an illegal cannabis grow site.

According to a press release by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a gunshot victim at approximately 7 a.m. on Monday, June 30, on the 8000 block of Kneeland Road.

Upon arrival, deputies reportedly determined that an individual had discharged a firearm at an illegal cannabis cultivation site.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, authorities said.

Following an investigation, deputies established probable cause to believe the suspect had discharged the firearm in a willful and grossly negligent manner.

The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ashley Nicole Bartels of Arcata, was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on suspicion of assault with a firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.
