Colton Police Arrest Suspect for Homicide in Fatal DUI Crash That Killed 19-Year-Old Pedestrian

COLTON, CA  — 

”UPDATED INFORMATION/ SUSPECT ARRESTED

On May 2, 2025, at approximately 06:48 AM, Colton Police Department Communications Center received reports of a traffic collision in the 1700 block of East Washington Street and Center Drive. Colton Police Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and discovered a pedestrian had been struck by multiple vehicles while attempting to cross the street.

The pedestrian, identified as Larenz Laamar Fondren, a 19-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. During the investigation, it was believed that speed was a factor in the collision. Antonio Dominguez Medrano was detained and later arrested for vehicular manslaughter while driving intoxicated. Medrano posted bail and was released from custody.

****UPDATE****

After submitting a comprehensive criminal investigation to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office on June 26, 2025, they filed charges and issued an arrest warrant for PC 187(A), Homicide.

On June 27, 2025 at around 09:14 AM, detectives from the Colton Police Department located Medrano in the city of Beaumont, where he was taken into custody without incident. Medrano was subsequently booked into the West Valley Detention Center on the charge of PC 187(A), Homicide.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the victim, Larenz Fondren. Sadly, his life was tragically taken by an act of vehicular recklessness”, said Police Chief Anthony Vega.
