Man Sentenced to 18 Years in Prison for Assault at Condo Complex in Bear Valley

ALPINE COUNTY, CA — An individual in Alpine County has reportedly been sentenced for an assault in Bear Valley that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.

According to a press release by the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office, Jordan Gaestel appeared in Alpine County Superior Court on Monday, June 9, and was sentenced to 18 years in state prison.

Gaestel had been identified as the primary suspect in the assault, which occurred on Sunday, January 26, at the Condo Bear Condos.

Two days after the assault, Gaestel was interviewed and ultimately arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and mayhem.

Prior to the June 9 sentencing, Gaestel had pleaded no-contest, according to the sheriff’s office.
