Tuolumne County Man on Probation Allegedly Caught with Ghost Gun

SONORA, CA — A man on probation was recently arrested after allegedly being caught with a ghost gun during a probation check.

According to a press release by the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, patrol deputies contacted an individual in the area of Spanish Grant and Red Heather drives on the night of Wednesday, May 28.

Deputies discovered the individual to be on searchable probation and conducted a search of the vehicle, allegedly finding a loaded handgun on the front passenger side floor.

The individual, whom deputies identified as 19-year-old Russel Foster, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded, concealed firearm while on probation.

Investigators later discovered that the gun didn’t have a serial number, making it what is commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.”

An additional charge for the alleged possession of an unserialized firearm has been recommended to the District Attorney’s Office, authorities said.
