Vehicle Burglary Ring Smashed – 3 Juvenile Suspects Arrested

LIVERMORE, CA — Police smashed a suspected vehicle burglary ring being run by juveniles in
Livermore.

Two of the suspects arrested are teenagers, and a third suspect who was arrested
is only 12 years old. They were all immediately released.

The three juveniles allegedly committed 49 vehicle burglaries between May 5 and June 3. All
of the vehicle burglaries happened in downtown Livermore and nearby surrounding streets.
These burglaries occurred during overnight hours.

The thieves typically shattered front passenger side windows to gain access into vehicles.
The most sought after items stolen from inside vehicles were USB flash drives, battery packs,
sunglasses, and wallets.

Livermore police detectives and patrol officers conducted an investigation with help from
school police officers. Investigative leads were followed up and surveillance camera videos
were reviewed, Livermore police said in a prepared statement.

“Police identified several juveniles suspects responsible for the crimes. Search warrants were
executed at their homes, where officers recovered some of the stolen property.”
On June 10, police arrested three juveniles in connection with 49 vehicle burglaries. The
suspects are Livermore residents—a boy 15 years old, a girl 14 years old, and a 12-year-old
boy.

“All three were cited and released to their parents. Juvenile Hall would not accept the
suspects due to the non-violent nature of the offenses.”

Livermore PD forwarded evidence to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Juvenile
Probation Department to review for charges.
