Five Arrested in Connection with Double Homicide at Cannabis Dispensary

BAKERSFIELD, CA  —  “On May 27, 2025, at approximately 9:40 pm, KCSO deputies assigned to Metro Patrol were dispatched to the 1600 block of Flower St for a report of a shooting which had just occurred. One of the reporting parties called KCSO dispatch and stated there had been 2 people shot inside the business. Deputies arrived and entered the marijuana dispensary, where they located 2 victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, later identified as Anthony Ochoa and Damien Bullard, were pronounced deceased on the scene.

KCSO Detectives were called to the scene to assume the investigation. During the investigation, detectives learned that 4 black males entered the marijuana dispensary, followed by Ochoa and Bullard. A verbal argument occurred inside the dispensary, followed by several gunshots. The 4 black males fled the dispensary and the area in a gold four-door sedan, which was being driven by a female driver.

The KCSO Homicide Unit worked with members from the KCSO Gang Suppression Unit, Bakersfield Police Department Gang Unit, Kern County Probation, and CDCR Parole to identify the suspects involved in this incident. The suspects were identified as Terrance Thompson (18), Darwin Young (20), Nancy Ruiz (20) and 2 juvenile males. Terrance, Thompson, and the 2 juveniles are all documented East Side Crip criminal street gang members.

Young, Ruiz and the 2 juveniles were all located and arrested in Kern County by members of the Sheriff’s Office and are all charged with 2 counts of Murder, 2nd Degree Robbery, and Participating in a criminal street gang. Ruiz was arrested in Kern County and charged with 2nd Degree Robbery. With assistance from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Thompson was located and arrested at a relative’s residence in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thompson was booked into a local jail in Las Vegas and is currently awaiting extradition to Kern County.
