Man Arrested for 2021 Murder Reportedly Identified as Suspect in Second Murder
FRESNO, CA — “On Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 6:27 p.m., Southeast Policing District officers responded to the Winery Avenue near Mckinley Avenue for a report of a disturbance inside an apartment, accompanied by the sound of glass breaking. Officers arrived and found the rear sliding glass door to one of the apartments shattered. Inside the apartment, officers found 47-year-old Ursolo “Frank” Sermeno unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers and EMS personnel attempted to render aid; however, Sermeno succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene at 7:03 pm.
Homicide detectives initiated an investigation into the shooting. Through their investigation, detectives identified 35-year-old Michael Cameron Fitch as one of the suspects involved in the shooting. Detectives, with the assistance of the State of California Department of Justice, were able to identify Fitch through DNA evidence recovered from the scene. Fitch, who was already in custody at the Fresno County Jail for a 2021 murder, was additionally charged on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, with PC Murder and Home Invasion. Although an arrest has been made in this case, detectives are asking anyone with information to please contact the Fresno Police Department.
