Solano County Man, Paroled in 2016 for Murder of Child, Arrested for Alleged Possession of CSAM
VALLEJO, CA — “On May 22, 2025, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau and the Solano County Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (SET) served a search warrant at a residence in Vallejo, California. The investigation stemmed from an ongoing investigation into illegal activities involving child sexual abuse material (CSAM). During the search, deputies discovered evidence confirming the suspect was in possession of CSAM, narcotics, and a loaded firearm. During the search, multiple electronic devices were seized, which are now undergoing forensic examination.
Detectives were assisted with the forensic examination by the California Highway Patrol Computer Crimes Investigations Unit (CCIU) and the Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (Sac Valley ICAC).
The suspect, Marvin Mutch, 68, of Vallejo, was arrested and taken into custody. Mutch was booked into the Solano County Jail on the charges of; 311.11(a) PC (Possession of Child Porn), 29800(A)(1) PC (Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm), 30305(A)(1) PC (Convicted Felon in Possession of Ammunition), 29900(A)(1) PC (Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Violent Felon), and 11370.1(A) PC (Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed). Mutch is currently being held on $300,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
Mutch was previously convicted in the 1975 Union City murder of 13-year-old Cassie Riley and served 41 years of a life without parole sentence. Mutch was granted parole in 2016.”
