SANTA BARBARA, CA —
April 18, 2025 – A fight among several individuals resulted in the stabbing of one man.
Eduardo Zermano, 36, of Goleta, also known as Eduardo Zermano-Arzate, faces one
felony count of attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation for allegedly stabbing a
man multiple times in the early morning hours of April 6, 2025.
According to Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Sgt. Bryan Kerr, “Zermano wasn’t
acting alone.”
Alexis Garcia, 37, also of Goleta, has been charged as an accessory after the fact.
“The victim had apparently been in a fight involving several individuals when he was stabbed
around 2 a.m.,” according to Kerr. “He sustained multiple stab wounds and was transported to
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in critical condition.”
After nearly a full week of investigation into the circumstances and individuals involved in the
stabbing, on the morning of April 12, a joint operation by Santa Barbara Police Department
officers and Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department detectives tracked both Zermano and
Garcia down in the city of Carpinteria.
Both men were contacted, promptly taken into custody and transported to Santa Barbara
County Jail where they were booked on attempted murder charges.
Zermano faces multiple sentencing enhancements, including allegations that he used a knife,
caused great bodily injury, was out on bail at the time, and has prior convictions for two serious
or violent felonies.
Zermano and Garcia remain in custody at the Santa Barbara County Jail on a no-bail hold.
