Long Beach Police Rescue Missing Teenager, Arrest Man

LONG BEACH, CA  —  “A missing persons investigation led to the rescue of a missing teenager and the arrest of a male adult suspect for arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes.

On March 11, 2025, family members reported a 17-year-old girl from Long Beach missing, who was last seen on March 4, 2025. Special Investigations detectives began searching for the teenager. Detectives developed leads that led them to her possible location in a motel near the 4000 block of Long Beach Boulevard.

On April 4, 2025, detectives and North Division officers responded to that location and found the missing teenager and located a male adult subject. The male adult was arrested and transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking.

“This case is a testament to the relentless work and dedication of our detectives and officers,” said Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish. “Their efforts led to the safe recovery of a missing teenager and the arrest of the suspect. I commend them for their exceptional police work and unwavering commitment to public safety.

The suspect has been identified as Joshua Stephen Brown, a 29-year-old resident of Long Beach, who was booked on one count of arranging a meeting with a minor for lewd purposes. The investigation is ongoing.
