SACRAMENTO, CA — “Sacramento County Sheriff Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) Detectives learned that a known Renick Way Mob Blood gang member, 20-year-old Jose “Baby Tre Nine” Nieto-Romero, was in possession of numerous firearms and was supplying those firearms to other active gang members.
The suspect went so far as to post pictures of himself with the illegal guns on social media.
GSU Detectives previously arrested Nieto-Romero in 2022 for shooting at gang rivals. He was convicted in that case and was placed on juvenile probation, prohibiting him from possessing firearms as a result.
Renick Way Mob gang members and their allies are engaged in an active gang conflict with rival criminal gangs, resulting in at least seven homicides since 2019.
In December of 2024, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT Team), GSU Detectives executed a multi-location residential search warrant, where they located fentanyl, multiple illegal weapons, stolen firearms, and a machine gun. Nieto-Romero was not present when the warrants were served.
Nieto-Romero attempted to evade capture for over a month before GSU Detectives eventually located and arrested him, trying to hide in the back seat of a vehicle during a vehicle stop. During the arrest, Deputies also located a loaded Ruger 57 pistol. He was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains ineligible for bail. He is scheduled to next appear in court on April 24.”
