Woodland Police Arrest Suspect Following Vehicle Pursuit and Drug Seizure

WOODLAND, CA  —  “On 1/27/25, at 11:35 pm, an officer noticed a vehicle parked on Cannery Road near Industrial Way. All the businesses in this area were closed. The officer stopped and walked up to the vehicle to check on the driver and see why they were there.

The officer contacted a male who was in the driver’s seat and observed narcotics inside the vehicle. The driver was ordered to exit the vehicle but he did not comply. Instead, he drove away and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The driver stopped in the 1400 block of E. Main Street but failed to secure the vehicle which rolled into the center divider. The man exited the vehicle, fled on foot, and then was apprehended by officers.

The suspect was identified as John Newton, a 53-year-old Woodland resident. Newton had methamphetamine, fentanyl, cash, and scales. Newton was arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail for possession of paraphernalia, resisting officers, evading, and possession of narcotics for sale.”
