Multiple Homes Struck by Gunfire in Redwood Valley, Sheriff’s Office Investigating
MENDOCINO COUNTY, Calif. — Authorities are investigating a reported shooting in Redwood Valley earlier this week in which multiple occupied homes were struck by gunfire.
According to a press release by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with officers with the California Highway Patrol responded early on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 29, to a report of multiple shots fired on the 400 block of Ellen Lynn Road in Redwood Valley.
Upon arrival, deputies reportedly found more than 50 expended .556 ammunition cartridges discharged in the roadway.
Multiple residences and vehicles had been struck by bullets but injuries were reported, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation while deputies canvassed the neighborhood and checked on residents.
Several people, including children, were inside homes that were struck by bullets. Authorities determined that the individuals responsible for the incident had left the area immediately after the shooting.
