JAMESTOWN, CA  —  A Tuolumne County man was taken into custody on after allegedly violating a domestic violence restraining order.

According to a press release by the Tuolumne County sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a report of a violation of a restraining order near Old Melones Dam Road and Shell Road.

Deputies reportedly located an individual, identified as 43-year-old James Owsley, sleeping in a shed on the property, in violation of a domestic violence restraining order issued earlier that week. The order had not been served at the time, as Owsley had left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the shed and Owsley’s vehicle, leading to the confiscation of about 190 grams of methamphetamine, 45 grams of fentanyl, drug packaging materials, digital scales, over $600 in cash, and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies also found ammunition, which Owsley is legally prohibited from possessing.

Owsley was arrested and booked into the Dambacher Detention Center on charges related to drug possession and sales, transporting controlled substances, and possession of ammunition, authorities said.

Later, narcotics agents carried out a search warrant Owsley’s storage unit and reportedly found a loaded firearm with a large-capacity magazine and no serial number.

Additional firearm-related charges were recommended to the District Attorney’s Office, authorities said.
