Police Arrest Juvenile for Allegedly Threatening to Shoot Up School

“Juvenile Arrested Over Threat

On Thursday evening, VPD officers received information about a video call that showed a student threatening to “shoot up” Ridgeview Middle School, claiming the incident would occur today, Friday, August 16. Visalia Police Detectives and Youth Service Officers immediately began an investigation and arrested the 13-year-old at his home.

Detectives found no additional safety threats towards students, staff, or the campus. However, there is increased law enforcement presence at all VUSD campuses this week.

The Visalia Police Department stresses that threats made on social media are unacceptable and will be met with SERIOUS consequences. Students and parents are urged to discuss the implications of posting such threats and to understand that all threats will be taken seriously.

As always, we remind everyone if you see something, please say something.”
