The caller advised dispatch that a woman stabbed an employee at the location and fled the business on foot. A witness followed the suspect and provided her updated location until a VVPD Officer arrived and detained the woman. The woman was identified as 33-year-old Makeda Cairo (Vacaville resident). Officers located a vehicle associated with Cairo parked near the business. Her three children, ages 16, 3, and 1, were found sitting inside the vehicle. VVPD officers partnered with Solano County Child Welfare Services to ensure the safety and welfare of the children is addressed.

The victim, a 51-year-old man and employee of the business, suffered a stab wound to his arm and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive.

During the investigation, officers learned an argument occurred between Cairo and the victim inside the business, during which time Cairo was seen attempting to leave the business with a tip jar. An altercation took place between Cairo and the victim, which ultimately led to the stabbing.
