Calaveras County Man Arrested for Allegedly Firing Gun at Person on Four-Wheeler

“On March 3, 2024, at about 4:00 PM. Deputies were dispatched to the 4000 block of Jewell Court in Wilseyville for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, the deputies learned the victim was riding his four-wheeler on what he believed to be a publicly accessible dirt road.

The victim was riding when he heard a shotgun blast. The victim said he stopped when he saw suspect Kirk J Rubottom, age 62, Wilseyville, pointing a shotgun at him. The victim got off of his four-wheeler, raised his hands, and asked the suspect not to shoot him. Suspect Rubottom began yelling at the victim, stating he owned the property and demanding him to leave. The victim complied and began riding away when he heard two more shotgun blasts.

The deputies contacted Suspect Rubottom at his residence without incident. Suspect Rubottom admitted to shooting his shotgun above the head of the victim as he rode away.

Suspect Rubottom was arrested and transported to jail where he was booked on felony charges.”
