Kern County Man Arrested on Attempted Murder and Carjacking Charges

Authorities in Kern County have arrested an individual on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing earlier this week.

According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to a stabbing incident on the 400 block of Peppermint Court in Wasco on the morning of Monday, February 5. The victim, a 52-year-old woman, sustained multiple life-threatening stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators soon identified Randy Flores Lopez, 21, as the primary suspect.

Flores Lopez is also accused of stealing the victim’s car, a silver 2005 Chrysler minivan. An active arrest warrant was issued for Flores Lopez on charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and carjacking, as well as probation violation.

Flores Lopez was located and arrested later the same day in Reedley. He was transported back to Kern County and booked at the Lerdo Justice Facility.
