Yesterday Detectives and Deputies served a search warrant at the Lutheran Church located on Hwy 49S in Mariposa. We received information that individuals being housed at the church were in possession of methamphetamine. The individuals had been living in the Sunday School room. During the search of the building meth and paraphernalia were found laying around in the children’s Sunday school room as well as an additional baggie of meth along with evidence of sales was found in a backpack in the kitchen area.

The individuals were using the church to sell their meth as well.  At this time there is no evidence that church staff was aware this was occurring.

“We as a community need to always bring eachother up and not bring each other down.   We understand this is especially disturbing because it is a church setting but let’s not confuse what has happened, there are many many fine members of the church and unfortunately individuals took advantage instead of seek help for the right reasons. Our transparency is a good reminder of the daily fight we at the Sheriffs Office fight and this evil can be anywhere.” Sheriff Briese

The individuals arrested were:

  • Megan McWhorter age 49
  • Kelly Curtis age 57
  • Ray Hettinger age 43
  • Michael Adamcik age 66
