Los Angeles police have arrested a man in connection with two seemingly unprovoked attacks on Asian individuals last week.

According to a press release by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, 29-year-old Angel Sanchez Jr. of Santa Barbara was identified as the primary suspect in two alleged attacks on Tuesday, December 5.

Police allege that, just before 5 PM, Sanchez approached a 60-year-old man as he was pushing his infant grandchild in a stroller on the 4000 block of Lost Springs Road in Calabasas. Sanchez allegedly punched the man in the face, knocking him over and causing the infant’s stroller to flip over. Sanchez then allegedly got into his car, a silver 2005 Honda Odyssey, and fled the scene. The attack was captured on nearby surveillance video.

Sanchez has also been linked to another alleged assault on an Asian teenager that same day, police said.

Sanchez was located and arrested on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 6. He was booked at the Malibu / Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.

It was unclear at press time whether Sanchez had retained an attorney.
