Not Guilty Plea in Attack, Robbery of Uber Driver

LOS ANGELES — On Friday evening at Broadway Place and 39th Street, an Uber driver picked up a fare but got more than he bargained for.

The passenger hit the Uber driver with a wrench.  The driver then pulled over and fell out of his car as the assailant continued his attack.

The suspect then took the driver’s wallet, cell phone, and car, then drove away.

Later that night, the LAPD arrested 26-year-old Deveon Deonteray Wilson. On Tuesday, he was charged with second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and carjacking.

Wilson pleaded not guilty and his bail was set at $150,000.  If he is found guilty, he faces up to 15 years and 8 months in jail.
