“Today at 7:08 AM, the Ione Police Department was dispatched to a 911 call with an open line and screaming heard. Officers responded to Shakeley Lane and Pleasant Valley Drive and located the residence where the disturbance occurred at 7:11 AM.

Officers could hear yelling inside the house, and the male subject refused to come outside. Officers Requested additional units to respond. At 7:20 AM, the female inside the residence came outside to talk to officers. Officers confirmed a domestic violence incident had occurred, and there was a handgun inside the home. The female had been strangled and refused medical aid. The suspect locked himself in the residence and refused to cooperate with the officers.

A code red was issued for the immediate area. The Ione Police Department and Amador County Sheriff’s Department started making public address announcements for the suspect to exit the residence. The suspect refused to exit the home. Contact with the suspect was made via cell phone several times to start a dialog. At 8:29 AM, the suspect exited the residence and complied with officers. The code red was lifted at 9:04 AM, and there is no threat to the Ione community.

Sean Woods, 37, from Ione, was arrested for 273.5PC, 12022.7PC, 422PC, 148PC, and 591.5PC. Woods was booked into the Amador County Jail without incident.
