Redding Man Arrested for Alleged Trafficking of Weapons, Cannabis

Earlier this year, the RPD Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) officers were made aware of the trafficking of large amounts of narcotics and firearms within the Redding area, specifically through various social media “apps”.  On November 16th, 2023, RPD Patrol and NPU officers conducted a search warrant service of a blue Toyota 4-Runner suspected of delivering narcotics to various locations within Redding.  Joshua Schultz (27 years of Redding) was contacted during a traffic stop near the intersection of Mistletoe Lane and Deerfield Avenue, and detained pursuant to the terms of the search warrant.

A search warrant service was then conducted at Schultz’ residence within the 1100 block of Woodland Terrace.  During the service, Patrol and NPU officers located approximately 3 pounds of marijuana, 2 shotguns, several handguns (one reported stolen), high capacity magazines, brass knuckles, a short-barreled rifle, a large amount of ammunition, over $50,000 US currency as well as items commonly associated with narcotics sales.  Schultz admitted to distributing marijuana for the purposes of sales.

Joshua Schultz was booked into the Shasta County Jail for Possession of Marijuana for sale, Possession of brass knuckles, Possession of a short-barreled rifle, Unlawful altering of a firearm serial number, Possession of high capacity magazines and Possession of stolen property.
