Sacramento County, CA – On the evening of Saturday, October 21st, 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance call at a residence on El Reno Avenue in Rio Linda. The incident involved a male subject, later identified as Darrion Jamerson-Keosodsay, who had allegedly entered the caller’s home with a firearm and refused to leave, prompting a swift and coordinated response by law enforcement.

As the events unfolded, the situation took a perilous turn when Jamerson-Keosodsay reportedly attempted to discharge the firearm inside the house, fortunately missing the intended target. Deputies were en route to the scene as the situation continued to evolve.

The Sacramento Police Department’s helicopter and a deputy with the drone unit played a crucial role in the subsequent events. They located a heat source and clothing in a nearby cornfield, indicating the presence of the suspect. Despite several K9 announcements imploring the suspect to surrender, Jamerson-Keosodsay remained evasive.

The turning point in the incident occurred when Sheriff’s K9 Philbert, a highly trained police dog, set up along the fence line in pursuit of the suspect. During the confrontation, Jamerson-Keosodsay attempted to resist apprehension while still holding the firearm. Fortunately, he dropped the weapon during the scuffle. Subsequently, he tried to flee by scaling a fence into another residential backyard. However, K9 Philbert’s relentless pursuit resulted in a successful apprehension, preventing the suspect from escaping. Deputies then Jamerson-Keosodsay into custody without further incident.

Law enforcement officers retrieved the loaded firearm from the scene, which was later booked into evidence as part of their ongoing investigation into the incident.

Following the apprehension, Darrion Jamerson-Keosodsay was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces a litany of serious charges, including PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder, reflecting the gravity of his alleged actions. As of now, he remains ineligible for bail, and his court appearance is scheduled for October 24th, 2023.
