Today, a federal grand jury charged Oren David Sela, 35, of North Hills, with fraudulently obtaining $2.6 million after stealing the identities of Beverly Hills residents.

From November 2021 to October 2023, Sela would use information from stolen mail to gain unauthorized access to victims’ bank accounts.

Sela’s arraignment is scheduled for October 30. If convicted of all charges, Sela would face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison for each count of bank fraud, with the possibility of additional time for each of the other crimes.

BHPD Detectives and the Secret Service continue to investigate this matter.
