OAKLAND — A 27-year-old woman with seven prior arrests was arrested an eighth time. Hali Fletcher, a resident of Oakland, was arrested last month for yet another violent incident. She faces charges for allegedly slashing another woman’s arm with a box cutter.

Fletcher is a suspect in the violent altercation that occurred at Laney College. The victim was attending a graduation ceremony. A violent confrontation between the suspect and victim occurred May 26 on the campus in downtown Oakland. The victim required medical treatment at a hospital.

The two women are apparently rivals, but details are scant concerning what caused the altercation. Oakland police responded to a fight involving the women, but Fletcher was not arrested until two months later.

Fletcher was taken into custody at Highland Hospital, which is part of the Alameda County public healthcare system. It is unclear why she was at the hospital.

Fletcher was arrested July 27. She was booked for assault with a deadly weapon/assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. However, she is no longer in custody.

Felony charges were filed July 31 against Fletcher for –

  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Defendant armed/used weapon
  • Violence or bodily harm
  • Special allegation-great bodily injury

In a separate active criminal case, Fletcher faces additional charges for assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats. She was placed under arrest for this on April 20 and subsequently released from custody.

In addition, Fletcher has prior arrests dating back to 2014 for assaults, battery, making threats of violence, and other offenses.
