Shasta County Man Reportedly Admits to Sexually Abusing Partner’s Daughter

“June 20, 2023, at 4:35 P.M.

RPD Case No. 23-029852

On Father’s Day, June 18th, 2023, at around 1:30 P.M., Redding Police were contacted by a concerned mother regarding the possible sexual assault of her juvenile daughter’s friend. Officers responded and learned Michael McNeil, 35 years of Redding, was possibly having a sexual relationship with his live-in girlfriend’s juvenile daughter. Redding Police Detectives were contacted and assumed the investigation. Multiple people were interviewed during the investigation, including the victim, Mr. McNeil, and family members.

The victim reported that for the past year, Mr. McNeil had been sexually assaulting her. Upon interviewing Mr. McNeil, he admitted to the allegations and stated he began sexually assaulting the victim when she was 12. As a result, Mr. McNeil was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail and is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail for charges related to, Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a Child, Oral Copulation, Forcible Penetration with a Foreign Object, and Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child.”
