Two Santa Barbara citizens were apprehended on the morning of May 27th following an extended confrontation with cops at a Westside Santa Barbara residence.

The incident unfolded pursuant to a report of a potential disturbance received by the authorities at approximately 8:45 a.m. According to Santa Barbara Police Department spokesman Sergeant Ethan Ragsdale, the reporting party had recounted “hearing multiple loud bangs” and shouted voices of distress emanating from within the dwelling.

Upon arrival, the responding officers encountered resistance and were denied access to the premises, prompting the establishment of a perimeter around the area. It is worth noting that domestic violence calls pose significant dangers for police officers. These situations often involve heightened emotions and volatile circumstances, exposing law enforcement personnel to increased risks of physical harm.

Several hours later, the two adult occupants of the residence complied with directives to surrender and were subsequently taken into custody. Isai Perez, aged 32, was transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail to face charges of obstructing an investigation and resisting an officer and child endangerment. Vanessa Ayala, aged 29, received a citation for misdemeanor charges of obstructing an investigation, resisting an officer, and child endangerment.
