Man Reportedly Found to be in Possession of Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop in Delano

“On Thursday, May 11, 2023, at about 12:00 p.m., patrol officers with the Delano Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of 7th Avenue and Main Street for an observed vehicle code violation. The driver was contacted and identified as Fernando Raya Palomares (21), a resident of Richgrove.

A records check was conducted on Palomares and revealed he was unlicensed.

Palomares was detained, and officers searched the vehicle. Metal knuckles, over sixty rounds of ammunition, and a loaded handgun were located within the vehicle. Through a records check, the firearm was confirmed stolen out of Texas.

Palomares was arrested, transported, and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office – Central Receiving Facility for multiple felony firearm offenses.”
