Wasco Teacher Arrested for Making Child Porn

Wasco Union High School

WASCO — A Wasco Union High School teacher was arrested on Sunday for allegedly making and possessing child pornography.

Alvaro Luna, 45, was booked into the Kern County Jail for charges of using an underage person to produce obscene matter, distributing obscene matter depicting a minor under 18 years of age, lewd or lascivious acts with a child 14/15 years of age and possession of obscene matter depicting a minor in sexual acts.

His bail has been set at $200,000.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Luna was taken into custody at his home in Arvin, not at the school site, on January 24.

Luna’s arrest comes after a three-month investigation by detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault and Abuse Investigations Unit into a report of an inappropriate relationship between a student and teacher at the high school.

Detectives said that during their investigation they developed probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Luna.
