Kern County Woman Arrested for Allegedly Burglarizing Post Office

A burglary at the Caliente Post Office, located on Caliente Bodfish Road, has resulted in the arrest of a Bakersfield resident, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office detailed the events in a press release issued on the afternoon of Monday, March 13.

At approximately 8:20 PM on Sunday, March 12, deputies were dispatched to the scene of the burglary, where located an individual — identified as 32-year-old Rosa Hernandez-Chavarria — walking along the roadway near the post office.

Hernandez-Chavarria appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was in possession of several stolen postal items, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Upon further investigation, deputies reportedly discovered additional packages along the path from Hernandez-Chavarria’s location to the post office.

In total, approximately thirty packages and postal items were recovered and returned to their rightful recipients.

Hernandez-Chavarria was subsequently arrested and booked into the Central Receiving Facility on several felony charges, in addition to an open felony warrant.
