Three Arrested, Several Stolen Vehicles Recovered After Burglary of Unoccupied Residence

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people in connection with the alleged thefts of multiple vehicles from an unoccupied home in the Trinity Alps Preserve.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on Wednesday, January 25, after being alerted to the discovery of a possibly stolen vehicle, the theft of which had not yet been reported, in neighboring Colusa County.

Deputies responded to the area, located in the Trinity Alps Preserve in the Igo area, and discovered that an unoccupied residence in the area had been burglarized.

Colusa County deputies had located a black 2017 Chevy Silverado Z71 that had been stolen from the residence, and two individuals — identified as John Fritz (37) and Jason Dixon (39) — were located and arrested in connection with the theft, the Sheriff’s Office said.

On Friday, January 27th, deputies already looking for a wanted individual in the Olinda Road area of Anderson located a man — identified as Clifford Schreder (27) — along with two vehicles, a white 2017 Chevy Silverado and a 2010 Polaris Ranger UTV. Both vehicles were soon determined to have been stolen from the same unoccupied residence in Trinity Alps Preserve, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Schreder was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, among other charges.

On Saturday, January 28th, deputies responded to Fritz’s residence on Towhee Lane in Anderson and located a 2005 PJ flatbed trailer on the property, as well as a grey 2002 Jeep Wrangler at the intersection of Laverne and Saddle Trail Road. Both were determined to have also been stolen from the aforementioned property.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies have thusfar recovered over $120,000 in stolen vehicles and property. The investigation continues as investigators work to identify and recover additional stolen property.
