A male phlebotomist has been arrested for sexually assaulting at least two women while they were giving blood at an Aliso Viejo medical lab.

Jose Farias, 29, of San Juan Capistrano was employed at the medical lab at the time the assaults occurred. Investigators did not provide the name of the lab.

The first victim, an 18-year-old woman, reported to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department on August 29th that Farias had sexually assaulted her while she was giving blood. The second victim, a 30-year-old woman, made a similar report on September 20th. Farias was arrested the following day and charged with battery.

“Due to Farias’ access to patients who came for blood draws, investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking the for the public’s help,” said the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators are asking any potential victims or anyone with information related to this case to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7419. Those who would prefer to report anonymously may contact OC Crime Stoppers.
