After being denied bail in his September 12th arraignment, the allegations pending against 41-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Robert Ryan McGraa are a clear indication that parents need to remain constantly vigilant over their children’s online social media activities.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Rob Yoos, McGraa has “been very active” on social media as a means of conducting “sexually motivated” crimes. He was arrested and taken into custody pursuant to ongoing criminal behavior “over the past eight years” that includes allegedly forcing an adult female Oxnard resident to perform “commercial sex acts” and communicating “suggestive messages” to a 14-year-old female Simi Valley resident.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office charged McGraa with three counts of possession of child pornography, one count of human trafficking, and one count of misdemeanor child luring. With McGraa’s prior convictions involving unlawful sex with a minor and human trafficking, the D.A. has filed “special allegations” with the suspicion that he “may have committed other sexually motivated crimes.”

He remains in custody on a no-bail hold.
