“On 8/15/2022, Petaluma Police Department received a request for assistance from a Petaluma Fire Department employee who advised that a male in a pink jacket was brandishing a knife at them. The Fire Department was in the area on a training exercise. A firefighter reported that the male was “making threatening gestures” with a buck knife. Officers arrived in the area and observed a male matching the description walking east on Washington St. After repeated attempts to get the man to talk with them, he removed a knife from his clothing and threw it into the street. He was detained in handcuffs by officers and the knife was recovered.

The man identified as Sergio Antonio Perdomo Perez was arrested for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and for brandishing a weapon at emergency services personnel.

Perdomo Perez was also arrested on February 4th of this year after it was reported that he had brandished a knife at a man and his 8-year-old daughter at McDowell Elementary School. He fled when contacted by law enforcement and when police attempted to arrest him, he held up a knife and a wooden stake. Officers were forced to use a TASER to subdue and safely arrest Perdomo Perez.

Perdomo Perez has 21 previous arrests in Petaluma dating back to 2020.”
