Two burglary suspects interrupted and later arrested

On the night of August 15, a woman called SHASCOM to report that two suspects were burglarizing the shed in her backyard.

Their Ford truck was parked on the 3500 block of Oak Lane in Cottonwood. The caller was able to provide authorities with a partial license plate from the vehicle, as well as a description of the pair and the direction in which they left the residence.

Arriving deputies located 39-year-old Marlena Benson and 28-year-old Robert Crews Jr. about 4 miles from the property located on W. Anderson Drive.

In the bed of the truck, deputies found items stolen from the shed. Then the homeowner arrived and identified the duo. She also identified the items from the truck as hers.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s press release concludes, “Benson and Crews were arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for burglary.”
